What do you want to say?

It's your turn, fourth graders!

This is your space to write and comment about anything you'd like to say about the topics we study in class. Any topic that we have spoken about is fair game here. Say what you want about whatever we've studied. Commenting back and forth would open up a great conversation about our studies in class. This could be fun!

Always try to remember to do your best with your spelling and conventions. Comment respectfully, especially if you disagree with what's been written. Disagreement is where the fun begins because others' perspectives cause us all to think a little differently. Think about what's been said, comment in support or in opposition to your classmate's thoughts, but always have an opinion that is stated with kindness.

Let's get some great commentary going, room 15!

    2. Even though we are very good at it we could improve! Don't be isolated to the same two partners!,be more free in collaboration! It truly does help!

    3. You make a great point, Makhai. Sometimes we get locked into working with the same people over and over again because it's comfortable. But, if we remove the isolation you write about, new ideas come as we get other people's perspectives. I like your point of view!

  4. I honestly think that Mrs.Barnsworth was not a bad person. In class a lot of people were saying Mrs.Barnsworth was bad because she was racist. She was racist because she said that Chinese people weren’t smart but they were hard workers. I would consider that racist, but it doesn’t make her a bad person. In that instance she was just uniformed or ignorant. I’m not saying that racism is right, but I do think when it comes to Mrs. Barnsworth she didn’t know what on earth she was saying.

Saying what she said does make her sound or maybe seem like a bad person but she was just talking about things she knew nothing about. In this case since she told her daughter about Chinese people. I think she was trying to inform her daughter about something she hadn’t seen for herself; which then warrants her just using the knowledge she knows, which obviously was not much.

Another thing she did was making herself seem like she was better than everybody else. When she got to her hotel she had her husband check if the hotel was suitable. As if it wasn’t good enough for her and her family. Many people would probably equate her behavior to being mean. But does that make her a bad person? Or does that make her a person with a particular way of doing things? I think she is just particular and sometimes needs to change the way she expresses it.

    2. I so agree! The actions that Mrs. Barnsworth made were actions that people looked into way too much and it drove their thoughts to think she was a bad person. Overall she is just both an uninformed person and possibly overprotective of her daughter. She is just very new to the people around her and did not quite know what she was doing. Good job Nassali!!!!

    3. I agree that Mrs. Barnsworth was actually a kind person. Mrs. Barnsworth made up for her mistakes by apologizing to Chen for being racist. Mrs. Barnsworth didn't think before assuming bad things of Chen because he was Chinese, but she realized that she was incorrect and apologized. Mrs. Barnsworth was kind enough to apologize to Chen. I think this shows that Mrs. Barnsworth was not a bad person.
