Marci Seither Visits Room 15!

Marci Seither, the author of The Adventures of Pearley Monroe, in which the 4th graders have an acknowledgement, visited her biggest fans on May 29. She spent about an hour and a half with the class. It was a great end to a year-long process.

Fourth graders: do you have any thoughts about Marci's visit? If so, please create a post that gives people an idea of your thoughts about the visit. As always, please comment on each other's ideas!

  1. I think the surprise was very exciting. When Marci first came in I didn’t recognize Marcie at all. I was suspecting she would look totally different. But when I saw her carrying Pearly Monroe bookmarks and when people were crying and were very excited I had a pretty good idea she was Marci Seither. I couldn’t believe she was able to come. I thought it was really awesome to be part of editing a book. Especially a book as good as The Adventures Of Pearly Monroe. I usually don’t like world history books but The Adventures Of Pearly Monroe was one of the best books I’ve ever read. I’m also glad Mr. La Marr made it a surprise. If he told us ahead of time the surprise wouldn’t be nearly as exciting. I think he did great with the planning and excuses. I’m so glad I got Marcie Seither’s signature three times. ONce when she signed my book, a second time when she signed my book mark, and a third when she signed my yearbook. I also think it was really cool that we were on the 5:00 KCRA news. I’ve never been on live news before. It was really lucky because we might of not been on. I still can’t believe an author actually came to visit my class. I’m also really glad that we might be able to write a book together next year. If we do I will be so excited. I think Marci Seither is a great author. I hope she visit us again sometime soon.

  2. I also think the way Marcie Seither started The Adventures of Pearly Monroe was interesting. I’m glad Marcie wrote about the Monroe family. I learned a lot of things from the book. Also, when Marcie came in she taught me a few lessons. My favorite one and the one I thought was the best was keep persisting. From this day on I always think about that. Marci Seither persisted to come and see us.

  3. Marci Seither's visit was an incredible experience for me. It was the first time in my life I got to help an author with a book and meet her in person! I was so happy when I first saw her come in. That was the best author day ever and one of the best days of my life. Marci Seither was so kind to take her time to come and visit us. I really hope she can do it again sometime. I would give her visit 1,000,000,000,000,000 stars if visits from authors had stars!

  4. I think Marci Seither's visit to our class was extremely surprising and happy. At first when she came in I didn't recognize her that much. Then I realized people were screaming and I thought she was probably an important person. Finally, I knew she was Marci Seither. At first when the cameramen came in I was thinking, "Why are they here?" After Marci Seither came in I knew what they were here for. It was the best day in the universe when Marci Seither came, because I don't remember meeting an author before. What's even better is that she gave autographs for free! I know I will keep that. The Adventures of Pearley Monroe is a very good book, and I love it. That book is my number one favorite. I hope Marci Seither comes back later, like next year. I want to say extra, extra, extra thanks to Marci Seither for coming to our class. It was a very good day.

  5. When the author of The Adventures of Pearley Monroe took the time to come to our classroom, I was overcome with happiness. I think, honestly, that she is the best writer from the moon and back. She could not be a more selfless and genuine person; I just think that she's the type of person that everyone should love. She deserves to have her book a famous novel, so if you haven't read her book, then I think you should go on and find her book, and read it. The trip was a huge surprise, and I didn't know it was her until everybody started screaming. It felt so awesome to think that I helped such an amazing author right her book.

  6. I think that it was amazing that Marci Seither came to visit our class and spend her time with us. When Marci first came into our class I was so surprised that I she was actually there in front of me in person. I had always wanted to see Marci Seither and there she was right in front of me. She gave us bookmarks and sighned her autograph on them. We also talked about lots of stuff about the book The Adventures of Pearley Monroe and about being writers.

  7. I think it was amazing when Marci Seither came into our class. I didn’t realize who she was at first but when everyone started screaming then I realized. It was very cool to actually talk to her face to face instead of on BlogSpot. I liked that she believed in each and every one of us. I thought it was pretty cool when she started signing our arms bookmarks and some of us, yearbooks. Thank you so much for coming to our classroom and meeting us I would personally give your book and your visit 30,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 stars!

  14. Thank you so much for coming to our class room! It meant so much to everybody that you came. From when Mr. La Marr first told us that you wanted to come and meet us, I was super excited. I was really sad when your signature on my arm washed off. But at least I still have my bookmark signed. Thanks again!

  15. Marci’s visit was AWESOME!! It clearly took a great deal of planning for it to be a success. Marci said something truly inspirational that day that helped me understand why she did NOT just quit writing the book when she felt tired of thinking. She told us to never quit, no matter how hopeless we felt. I have heard this many times before, but coming from her it was inspiring. It was amazing how we are thanking her for something that she is doing in appreciation of us. I think that The Adventures of Pearly Monroe is an amazing book that I am very happy to have been a part of. I hope that Marci creates many more wonderful stories, and feels free to ask our class to edit them.

  17. I can’t believe that Marci Seither came to our classroom! It was so exciting when she walked in, and some people were crying. I was so happy to see her in person before the year ended! I feel so honored to be able to help a real author make a real book with my classmates, and to see her in person was like seeing my dream. I felt sooooooooooo happy that Marci came, and she was signing people’s arms, yearbooks, and bookmarks. To be able to help make the book, and to think that my class saved a person’s life in the book, it makes me so happy. It also inspires me to write books of my own, and follow my dreams. So when Marci walked in, the person who wrote the book, I just felt so happy, I felt like crying. I thought Marci wouldn’t come, and everyone would be like,” Oh, too bad.” When she walked in everyone was screaming,” MAARRCIIIII!!!!!!,” with pure joy. Thanks to Marci for letting us help.

  19. When Marci came into our class I was so so so excited!!! She had totally surprised me. I had no idea that she would come that day. My favorite part was when she signed my arm. It was so much fun and when she had to leave I was so sad. This was one of the best experiences in my life and if someone asked me if I wanted to do this again I would say there is no way I wouldn't do it again. Thanks so much for coming Marci I hope you could come again.

  20. When I saw Marci Seither at our school I just started to scream. She had to go on a plane just to get to our class. She didn't have to spend her time in Sacremento, where our classroom is, but she did. Only someone that cared so much about our classes opion about Marci's book would come to our class and awnser our questions in person. One of the questions i asked was 'can't you make a sequal'. She said 'you can write it or make a movie'. Most of our class was inspired to make a movie. Our class decided to make a movie over the summer. I wanted to be Mama. Marci inspires our class in many diffrent ways.

  21. I was so touched by Marci coming here. I loved the experiences from when we helped with the book to when we got signed copies of it to when she came to the classroom. I feel like I had a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I made the most of it, which is better than can ever be measured. It feels so special to me that one of my comments I posted made it into the acknowledgements. The most amazing part is when Marci came into the classroom. I screamed with happiness and even cried. The chance to do this doesn't come to everyone, and I am honored to be one of the few people in the world that get to. It's so special that Marci took the time to reply to the blogposts, come to the classroom, with buying and signing the books for us on top of that. There is nothing in my lifetime that can ever be as special and heartfelt as this.
